What did you like most about working with me?
I felt like we were working together on this. I truly felt you were invested in the work, no feeling of pandering or dismissiveness. Your communication was impeccable. Your care for the material was appreciated, as well as comments, questions and kindness about my punctuation skills.
What results did you get from our work together?
I now have a professional manuscript that I think is so good, I may consider doing another round of querying. Having a professional work on my material, allowed me to give a clinical eye to the manuscript and improve it further.
What would you say to someone who was considering working with me?
She listens, she likes the work she’s doing and is dedicated to working on it at the highest standard. This isn’t a stepping stone to another career for her. I think this is important because she can focus on what the project needs. Her communication skills are excellent. Last but not least, she’s fun to work with, I feel like she got me.
How would you describe what I do? In a capacity as a proofreader – you’re basically a living style guide, dictionary and grammar queen who can give the project that final pass with fresh eyes and correct all the minor issues that would pop someone out of the story.
