Line/Copyediting
While a lot of editors will offer these as two separate services, I find myself performing both simultaneously.
In a line edit, the editor examines each word, each sentence, and each paragraph for word choices, sentence flow, inconsistencies, factual correctness, and repetition. The editor may also provide suggestions and comments about moving/removing text.
In a copyedit, the editor corrects typos and misspellings, adds missing words, corrects punctuation errors, and ensures the style is consistent throughout.
This service includes an initial meeting (via Zoom or Google meet) to discuss your manuscript and goals, construction of a style sheet, the line/copyedit, and an additional meeting for any questions or clarification.
